key terms
- appellation - a name, title, or designation.
- commissioningThe act of granting certain powers or the authority to carry out a particular task or duty.
- fraudulent - characterized by, involving, or proceeding from fraud, as actions, enterprise, methods, or gains
- halftone - Also called middle-tone. (in painting, drawing, graphics, photography, etc.) a value intermediate between light and dark. (also looks like little dots)
- indistinct - not distinct; not clearly marked or defined
- innovations - The act of introducing something new.
- Narrative — the images combine with other news elements to make facts relatable to the viewer or reader on a cultural level.
- Objectivity — the situation implied by the images is a fair and accurate representation of the events they depict in both content and tone.
- predecessor - something succeeded or replaced by something else
- Relevance - the images have meaning in the context of a published chronological record of events.
- Timeliness — the images have meaning in the context of a recently published record of events.
- Yellow Journalism - journalism that exploits, distorts, or exaggerates the news to create sensation and attract readers
